Run for the Stinkin' Roses - SVRC: Saturday July 12th

Mark your calendars!  The South Valley Running Club (SVRC) is again hosting their annual Run for the Stinkin' Roses as a fundraiser for SVRC and FOSMAS on Sat, 12 Jul, at the Solarsano Middle School in Gilroy.  We need your help to make this another successful event.  If you helped last year, you know what a fun time it was, and how beneficial it was for FOSMAS.  Please let us know if you're willing to help, and what you'd like to do.  Details will be forthcoming.   Doris Kanemura (FOSMAS, dkanemura@rushorder.com) is co-chairing this event with Alan Abrams (SVRC, allan.abrams@fci.com).   Let's make this another winner for our organizations and critters!  SVRC is also soliciting sketches for the T-shirts, so if you or someone you know is artistic, get out the drawing pens and pencils to come-up with a great T-shirt design.  Emphasis is on critters and garlic cloves (but not too close to the Garlic Festival logo).

The first priority is fundraising and securing sponsors, so if you, your company, or someone you know is willing to donate any amount toward this event or an item for opportunity drawings, please let Doris know. Her e-mail is dkanemura@rushorder.com.  We also need help contacting animal-related businesses for sponsorships.

Chili's Logo Chili's Gilroy - Monday May 5th Chili Pepper

A big THANK YOU to Leslie Poiry and her wonderful staff at Chili's-Gilroy for hosting their fundraiser for FOSMAS this past Monday, and for the volunteers, family, and friends who attended to help raise funds!  Some of the staff from Chili's even came in on their off-duty time to support our critters, and made a special donation to help care for them!  We saw other customers coming in with the flyers, so we know the word got out a ways so people could help our homeless animals.  Thanks to all who helped spread the word, and came to the event to have a great meal and support our critters.  What a delicious and inventive way to help!  We hope to partner with Chili's frequently, and be able to help even more animals in the future.

SJ Home and Garden Show Tools

San Jose Home and Garden Show

Saturday, April 26th 11:00 am - 7:00 pm
Sunday, April 27th, 11:00 am. - 6:00 pm

A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped make the SJH&G Show a success for the Shelter and FOSMAS!!  It was a long two days, but very productive in terms of getting the Shelter's and FOSMAS' name out to the public and, best of all, we got two wonderful adoptions as a result.  Tanner, one of eight adult kitties left in boxes at the St. Francis Spay/Neuter Clinic in Dec 07 when their owners lost their jobs and house, was adopted by a wonderful couple who recently lost their 17-year-old tabby.  Ironically, the lady of the couple was the one who invited FOSMAS to come to the Home and Garden Show.  The other adoption was of one of the Shelter's sweet little dogs, Tino.  A woman had been watching him on the website, and fell in love with him long-distance.  She and her husband happened to drive by the Show, saw our sandwich board out front, and thought "Can't believe FOSMAS is there; I wonder if Tino might be inside?" They came in, and found he was.  How's that for fate?  She couldn't believe her luck, and we can't believe Tino's. We also raised $770.82 to help take care of our foster animals, especially the many preweans now coming in.

A very special thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers who organized this show, made items for donation, transported animals, helped with set-up and tear-down, and staffed throughout the weekend.
